The organization was established and incorporated on April 11, 1997 by a group of dedicated educators, community members and philanthropists associated with Miami Northwestern Senior High School in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

Yes, monetary donations are tax-deductible.

The mission of The Louie Bing Athletic Scholarship Fund, Inc. is to assist local schools and the community as they strive to develop our youth academically, socially and physically.  The goal of the Organization is to promote these efforts through academic and athletic activities.

The objectives are to:

  • provide a safe, secure, wholesome environment and atmosphere for athletic competitions.
  • provide academic and athletic scholarships.
  • raise funds to promote and finance athletic and academic events.
  • sponsor workshops to enhance the skills of those providing leadership to youth.
  • award school and community leaders who provide positive mentorship to our youth.

Currently, we provide a minimum of nine scholarships per year.

Students may apply online at www.bingscholarshipfund.org, download and mail the application to P.O. Box 570324 Miami, FL.  33257-0324.  Students may also contact their Miami-Dade County Public Schools CAP Advisors for assistance.

Students MUST meet the following minimum requirements for The Louie Bing Scholarship:

  • Be a graduating senior
  • Be a current student athlete
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Have a financial need
  • Acceptance to a higher learning institution

Students MUST meet the following minimum requirements for The John H. Peavy, Jr.  Scholarship:

  • Be a graduating senior
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Have a financial need
  • Acceptance to a higher learning institution

Students MUST meet the following minimum requirements for The Clyde H. Jordan Scholarship:

  • Be a graduating senior
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA unweighted
  • Must major in a STEM field
  • Have a financial need

Acceptance to a higher learning institution

At this time the scholarship applicant must be a legal resident of Dade County, Broward County or the state of Florida.

Scholarships range from $700-$1,000 per student.

Notifications of scholarship awards will be mailed to the address submitted on the application.

The scholarship funds will be mailed directly to the College or University the student will attend.  Please contact the Student Financial Aid Office on your campus.
